Our group services include group therapy and discussion groups that are skills-focused and relationship-oriented with a variety of goals that aim to promote wellbeing. Groups provide opportunities to increase self-awareness and increase the quality of your interactions with others and research demonstrates that group therapy is equally effective as individual therapy and is often the treatment of choice for student issues. Enrolling in or Waiving SMIP Duke University students will be automatically enrolled in the SMIP each year they are enrolled at Duke. Non-international students who have current coverage with another insurance plan that meets specific criteria may waive or opt out of the Duke medical plan. International students holding an F1 or J1 visa are required to participate in the Duke SMIP and are not able to opt out of the medical plan.
