Get excited! Applications for first-year students to either run or apply for Duke Student Government (DSG) are now open. DSG is a great way for students to get involved in policy, advocacy, project work, and understanding the University as a whole.

A compiled list of events, deadlines, and application information is here. Below is information on how to apply and remaining events, if you wouldn’t mind distributing it to your students, or directing them to isaiah.hamilton@duke.edu, if they have any further questions.

Come Attend Senate and our Committee Meetings

The remaining Senate Observations are TOMORROW, Sept. 21st at 7:30pm @ Schiano Auditorium. When you arrive, come to the gallery in the back, tell us you’re a first-year, and we’ll get you settled!

The remaining Committee Observations are Sept 25th between 1-6pm (depending on the committee you want to visit) @ the DSG Office in the Bryan Center. More details on the doc included in this email!

Applications: Signing up for elections and the at-large application is available here.

If you run…You will need to submit 25 signatures from fellow first-years, which will is included on the sign-up and due Sept. 28th. You also must attend one candidate meeting either on 9/24 or 10/1 at 5-6pm in Social Sciences 139. If you cannot make that time for a class conflict, email our Attorney General, yufan.sun@duke.edu! On October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, the floor is yours to campaign to fellow first-years. From noon on October 5th until noon on the 6th, polls will be open on Duke Groups for them to vote.

If you apply….the applications will be due Sept. 28th  and after DSG reviewing the applications, interviews will be Oct. 16th, 17th, and 18th.
