The CMA offers reservable spaces for students, faculty, and staff to meet, collaborate, celebrate, and build community. Each space includes amenities to support a wide range of programs and gatherings.
The CMA receives a high volume of space requests, and our spaces are shared by many members of the community each day. To help us care for these spaces together and ensure they remain accessible and welcoming, we have introduced a Space Reservation Care and Use Agreement that all groups must review and sign as part of the reservation process.
The deadline to submit the form is 24 hours before your event. You may submit the form digitally (by emailing a copy to dcma@duke.edu) or in-person (drop off a copy to the CMA).

Coalition 1 offers a relaxed, living‑room‑style environment designed for connection, conversation, and comfort. This space is ideal for smaller gatherings, meetings, and low‑key programs where participants want to settle in and spend time together. Furniture can be moved to support your gathering, and the space includes a variety of seating and table options to accommodate both people and food. A TV is available for use, with remotes provided upon request. The CMA Director’s office is also located within Coalition 1, making this space feel grounded in the day‑to‑day life of the center.
Coalition 2 is a more open and energetic space with higher ceilings, brighter lighting, and a wide range of seating options. This area works especially well for larger or more open events, including programs that involve movement, music, and community‑building activities. Coalition 2 houses the CMA affinity spaces, as well as the Assistant Directors’ and Staff Specialists’ offices. The space also connects directly to the CMA patio, allowing for indoor and outdoor programming and creating opportunities for gatherings that flow between spaces.
The CMA patio is the perfect spot for outdoor gatherings, sunshine, and laid‑back community time. With ample space for dining, conversation, and hanging out, the patio works well for casual programs, meals, and events that benefit from fresh air and an open atmosphere. This space is ideal for groups looking to relax, connect, and enjoy being together outside.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your reservation, please contact us in advance so we can remove your reservation from the calendar. Courteous cancellation also allows other groups to reserve space during the date and time you originally reserved.
