Welcome, Class of 2030!

The Duke International Student Center (DISC) is excited to welcome you to Duke. We hope that this will be a place for you to connect, learn, and grow.

The Duke International Student Center is hosting the 2026 Passport to Duke & Durham program for the undergraduate Class of 2030 students to help acclimate to U.S. culture, complete needed paperwork, and set-up specific services ahead of Orientation Week.  

What should I expect from the Passport to Duke & Durham and Resource Fair?

  • Complete the required visa services check-in and advising with Duke Visa Services staff
  • Access resources, including banks, cell phone providers, and Duke International Student Center
  • Have time to adjust to substantial time-zone differences before a busy Orientation Week
  • Facilitated acclimation to U.S. culture

The Passport to Duke & Durham dates and activities are listed below: 

  • Arrival Process for Passport to Duke & Durham: Wednesday, August 12, 2026 & Thursday, August 13, 2026
  • In-Person Activities: Wednesday, August 12, 2026 to Friday, August 14, 2026
  • Passport to Duke & Durham Resource Fair: Friday, August 14, 2026

We will be organizing and hosting various events that families can participate in during the Passport to Duke & Durham arrival process.

  • Student Arrival Process for Passport to Duke & Durham: Wednesday, August 12, 2026 & Thursday, August 13, 2026
  • Parent Social: Friday, August 14, 2026

I-GUIDES

The I-Guides are a team of undergraduate student upper-class leaders who will assist the Duke International Student Center (DISC) and help guide students through the “Passport to Duke & Durham” and Resource Fair and Information Sessions, and plan the week of events and socials. The I-Guides welcome new students as they transition to Duke, Durham, and the broader community and help serve as mentors to students throughout the academic year.  

As a participant, you will be assigned an I-Guide ahead of the program (May to August 2026) to assist in your transition to Duke & Durham. The I-Guides will correspond with you via email, social media, and WhatsApp to answer any questions you have before you arrive. Please keep an eye out for their emails.
