Reckoning with Race Part I: How and Why Black Lives Matter
Participants will develop foundational knowledge of concepts related to race, power, privilege, justice, and equity; draw connections between socialized inequalities, historic prejudice, and current injustices; and develop understanding of historical and systemic foundations of anti-Black racism in America and in higher education contexts. Reckoning with Race Part II: Working Towards Equity and Liberation
Participants will explore the importance of moving from a framework of "not-racist" to one of "anti-racism” through the development of a liberatory consciousness. Participants will also be challenged to employ design-thinking principles to reimagine systems in higher education in a more anti-racist and just way. This training is intended for participants who have completed Part 1.
