Graduate Professional Day Trip – A Day Downtown
As an extension to our Summer Transition Series webinar programs, we are excited to announce three immersive and in-person day trips!
Trips are designed:
- For first-year incoming Graduate and Professional students to Duke University.
- To foster a sense of belonging for graduate and professional students with Duke University in addition to unique academic programs.
- To facilitate a pathway for students to build interdepartmental connections with other graduate and professional students at Duke.
Embark on a thrilling downtown Durham scavenger hunt that will keep you on your toes, and afterwards, catch the excitement of a Durham Bulls Baseball game.
Tentative Itinerary*:
Tuesday, 8 August 2023
- 3:00 PM – Check-in at Science Drive Circle/CCB Plaza; bus transportation to CCB Plaza from Science Drive Circle
- 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM – Scavenger Hunt
- 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM – Get to Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP)
- 6:00 PM to 6:35 PM – Collect Duke swag, wristbands, and dinner before being seated
- 6:35 PM to 09:45PM – Durham Bulls Baseball Game
- 10:00 PM – Day is concluded; Bus transportation to West Campus

Additional information:
- There is no cost for attendance. The scavenger hunt, tickets to the baseball game and dinner are all free.
- This is an in-person activity. Please only register if you can plan to be in Durham, NC on 8 August, 2023. Space is limited.
- Participants should plan to wear comfortable footwear and clothing, for walking during the scavenger hunt.
- Be sure to use and carry sunscreen and other sun protection since afternoons can be hot during the summer.
- Remember to stay hydrated!
- Carry light sweaters since it will get cooler at night during the game.
