Home to approximately 340 sophomores, juniors, and seniors, Kilgo Quad is the first residential building built on West Campus.

Res Ed Staff 

Residence Coordinators (RCs) are live-in professional staff members who oversee specific residence halls (known as houses or Quads). They ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all studentsThey supervise the RA staff, advise councils, support students of concerns, serve as conduct hearing officers, manage facilities concerns, and engage with residential students to support belonging, engagement, and well-being. They serve in the RC on-call rotation.

Kayla Wood (she/her), Residence Coordinator

Kayla is over Kilgo and Crowell Quads directly managing Kilgo and supporting the grad supervising staff over Crowell.

Kayla graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. in Political Science and Public Policy. While at FSU, Kayla was involved in state and local government

work, the FSU Wesley Foundation, and Intercollegiate Forensics. After graduating, she moved to Durham to complete her Master of Divinity here at Duke University where she also working in the Housing and Residence Life department as a graduate resident and ARC. In her spare time, Kayla is an avid sports fan and can be caught most Saturdays and Sundays watching college and professional football.

Resident Assistants (RAs) are upperclassmen who live in the residence halls and students with anything from navigating campus to organizing fun and engaging activities. They provide support and resources for students in need or crisis and serve in an on-call rotation. 

Faculty Fellows are professors invited to work within a specific Quad to host 2 dinners a month, sponsor other intellectual programs, and attend Quad programming to get to know residents.

The Academic Guides program integrates academic coaching and whole-student support into the fabric of the Duke campus residential experience. Embracing the idea that true academic success comes from overall well-being, their purpose is to listen to student concerns, support them in and out of the classroom, and connect them with any and all resources needed to thrive as a Duke student.

Living Learning Communities (LLCs) at Duke strive to create a residential environment that fosters a sense of belonging and intellectual exploration on a particular topic or area of focus. LLC students partner with a sponsoring department to advance the curricular and co-curricular engagement on the designated topic.
