Brandin is a seasoned Student Affairs professional with over a decade of experience in higher education/student affairs. Originally from Durham, North Carolina, he earned his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, his master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration from Ball State University and later, his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Vermont, where his dissertation examined the connections of the Restorative Practices framework in effective supervisory practices.
Professionally, Brandin spent most of his career as a Housing and Residence Life professional at multiple institutions including Penn State University and the University of Vermont (UVM) before coming to Duke University where he served as the Assistant Dean for Leadership & Faculty engagement and the Associate Dean of Residence Life for East Campus. Known for his excitement about all things Human Resources, Brandin is passionate about learning more about effective HR Practices to best support his colleagues across the division.
Outside of work, Brandin finds enjoyment in Marvel movies, all things Star Trek, video games, and savoring meals at local restaurants. While he is not be a huge outdoor enthusiast, he does enjoy occasional trips to the beach and indulges in the occasional round of Top Golf with friends.
