Fuel to Flourish

Fuel to Flourish

Flourishing is a DYNAMIC STATE of well-being that encompasses both physical and mental health which changes over time, with life circumstances, and as we build our skills around adaptability and resilience. Flourishing is more than being happy - although that is part of it, it’s also about life satisfaction and having a sense of purpose. It’s a journey rather than an end goal.

When it comes to nutrition and health there are three key principles that contribute to our ability to flourish.

1. Fuel Forward

Ensuring that we proactively support our bodies with what they need
for what is to come, not after the fact. Find information on Meal Timing here.

For example: missing or skipping meals during the day, when we are most in need
of fuel, only to overeat later in the day, when we are less active and therefore less in
need of incoming energy.

2. Food Matrix

Understanding the complexity of how nutrients (the chemicals we get from food), work together to support favorable [health outcomes- rather than focusing
on counting calories, or individual nutrients. Find out how to Balance Your Plate here.

3. Flexibility

The ability to adjust our intake or food options seamlessly, depending on availability or circumstances speaks to the health of our relationship with food.
We don’t eat at the same time every day, let alone the same thing every day of the week. Recognizing that good health and nutrition does not happen at a single moment in time
or even over a single day or week.
