About the Campaign

Double Your Impact. Strengthen Jewish Life at Duke.

From May 4-8, 2026, your gift to Jewish Life at Duke empowers students to celebrate their Jewish identity with pride, grow into compassionate leaders, and build lifelong friendships.

We're proud to join Hillels around the world for the 7th annual Hillel Global Giving Week—and there's never been a better time to give. During this special week, the first $5,000 of gifts will be matched by Hillel International (with a generous match of up to $2,000 per gift).

Our goal? To raise $36,000 to fund the Jewish Future Endowment Fund, ensuring that Duke students can enjoy Jewish learning, Israel education, and our tight-knit community in perpetuity. The Jewish Future Fund is an unrestricted endowment fund supporting the essential work of Jewish Life at Duke.

Give now. Make twice the impact. Shape a vibrant Jewish future at Duke.

Your Support in Action

  • Just this year, Jewish Life at Duke has hosted Tal Ramon, musician and son of first Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon (z"l), "From Campus to Career" panel and networking night featuring 20+ Duke alumni and parents, the first-ever mock academic Latke vs. Hamentasch Debate, our annual Hanukkah candle lighting with Coach Jon Scheyer and President Vincent Price, sent a men's team to the National Hillel Basketball Tournament, and even officiated a wedding ceremony between two graduate students at the Freeman Center!
  • JLD offers over a dozen educational experiences, ranging from service trips to cohort learning on Jewish texts. This empowers students to find their own path to Jewish identity and grow into successful community leaders.
  • 20+ students have become B'nai Mitzvah within the walls of Freeman Center for Jewish Life. This program reaffirms their lifelong commitment to Jewish values and prepares them to find their own place in the Jewish world in college and beyond.

  • Hundreds of students participated in our Host-Your-Own-Passover Seder Program, with funding, materials, a multi-course meal, and training provided by Jewish Life at Duke. Along with taking ownership and leadership of Jewish practice, this program has became an interfaith tradition that brings students of various backgrounds and identities to the table, fostering allyship.

  • "I'm so grateful for everything Jewish Life at Duke has done for me because they were the first community to reach out to me when I was a nervous freshman trying to find my footing in college. The first-year Shabbat I went to the first week introduced me to my current friends and became a space I would visit every day to just hang out with people. The Freeman Center has become my home-away-from-home and I wouldn't be where I am today without all of the support the people at Jewish Life at Duke have shown me.” — Jordan Ross, Class of 2028

Want to make an even bigger impact?

Something big is happening... Be one of the 20.

Jewish Life at Duke has long been a place where students find community, meaning, and pride in their Jewish identity. While many campuses face growing challenges, Duke stands out nationally as a campus where Jewish students feel supported, empowered, and proud.

We have embarked on the The Jewish Future Campaign, our commitment to ensuring that strength endures—now and for decades to come.

Our ambitious goal: partner with 20 donor families to secure a resilient Jewish future at Duke. Each family is invited to make a leadership pledge of $250,000, payable over five years. Together, these commitments will grow JLD's endowments by $5 million. Now that's big impact.

A strengthened endowment provides the permanent foundation that allows Jewish Life at Duke to thrive. It ensures long-term stability, expands our reach, and frees our professional team to focus on what matters most: supporting students spiritually, socially, and academically.

About Jewish Life at Duke

Jewish Life at Duke (JLD) is the hub for all things Jewish on Duke’s campus. An accredited Hillel as well as a department within Duke University’s Division of Student Affairs, Jewish Life at Duke is guided by a mission to empower Jewish students to learn and grow intellectually and spiritually; to inspire and nurture personal paths to Jewish identity; and to cultivate community and friendship. Comprising the Freeman Center for Jewish Life and the Rubenstein-Silvers Hillel, JLD takes a pluralistic approach to Judaism to ensure that all Jewish students, regardless of affiliation, are welcome and included.

100% of JLD’s operating budget comes from donations from alumni, parents, and friends.
