Built in the late 1960s and renovated in 2016, Edens Quad is home to approximately 500 sophomore, junior, and senior students. Edens offers multiple kitchens and common spaces, e-print station, laundry, fitness room, and yoga space.

Your Edens Community

Faculty Fellows are professors invited to work within a specific Quad to host 2 dinners a month, sponsor other intellectual programs, and attend Quad programming to get to know residents.

Each Quad has a dedicated academic dean (or deans) who support you during your time at Duke. Your dean ensures you are on track to graduate and works with you in more complex situations that may impact your academic progress. You can visit DukeHub for more information about your assigned Academic Dean.

Pratt Dean: Your academic dean is assigned to you upon matriculation and remains the same throughout your four years. Your dean can advise you on graduation requirements, supplement advising within the departments, and connect you with opportunities and support services.

Quad Advisors, are full-time, dedicated advisors assigned by quad who work alongside their pre-major advisees in the process of course selection and discernment, as well as decisions around drop/add, course grading options, and withdrawals. Pratt Academic Advising: Your first-year academic advisor is assigned by mid-September and helps support your transition to Duke through awareness of academic and support resources available to you. Once you declare your major, you will be assigned to a faculty advisor in your department. To find your First-Year or Departmental Faculty Advisor, you can visit DukeHub.

RCs are live-in professional staff members who oversee specific residence halls (known as houses or Quads). They ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all studentsThey supervise the RA staff, advise councils, support students of concerns, serve as conduct hearing officers, manage facilities concerns, and engage with residential students to support belonging, engagement, and well-being. They serve in the RC on-call rotation.  

Residence Coordinator: Jasmine Hill Evans (she/her)

RAs are upperclassmen who live in the residence halls and students with anything from navigating campus to organizing fun and engaging activities. They provide support and resources for students in need or crisis and serve in an on-call rotation. 

PAs are grad level students who live in our residence halls and support all community programming efforts. They serve as the primary advisor for the Quad Council.

Get Involved & Stay Connected 

Quad council is charged with providing community events, advocating for community improvements, and communicating community concerns. Councils are encouraged to host frequent quad events that include parties, faculty-student dinners and speakers, rec sports competitions, local excursions, and purchasing quad swag.

  • Welcome Back Bash – Kick off the academic year right at our annual Welcome Back Bash! The Edens Quad Council and Resident Assistants are serving up delicious food, exciting activities, and exclusive Edens merch to get you started. It's the perfect way to connect with your new community! 
  • Take One, Leave One Library – Escape and unwind at our weekly "Take One, Leave One" Pop-Up Library! Join RC Jasmine in the 1C 1st floor study room for a sensory-friendly environment featuring a rotating selection of books (including banned books, secret picks, and general interest), along with comforting tea, light desserts, and relaxing lo-fi music. Discover your next favorite read and de-stress. 
  • Edens Birthday Party – Join us every February as we celebrate Edens' special day with an Edens Birthday Party! The Quad Council throws a festive bash complete with Edens-inspired trivia, delicious food, and plenty of surprises. Don't miss out on the annual celebration! 
  • The Edens Cookout – Fire up the fun at The Edens Cookout! Twice a semester, RC Jasmine hosts a quad-wide cookout by the Edens grill. Grab your chairs and blankets and come relax with great food, awesome music, and classic yard games. It's the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors and connect with your neighbors.
