Wellness Living Learning Community

Committed to Wellness

The Wellness LLC provides a home for students in Wannamaker Quad who want to explore wellness through a variety of programs and events aimed at developing a rich understanding of wellness from a global perspective. You'll be joining a community devoted to developing and experiencing daily wellness practices to help manage stress, reduce anxiety, and glean the most positive Duke experience.

As an LLC member, you will also have a first-chance opportunity to join DuWell as a paid, Wellness Intern to facilitate wellness programs across the Duke community. (Not a requirement, just an opportunity!)

Note: The Wellness LLC is a safe space for those wishing to have a healthy relationship regarding substances; either living substance-free or practicing moderation and supporting peers living substance-free.

Wannamaker Quad

Renovated in 2016, Wannamaker Quad is home to approximately 230 residents and offers two common rooms, two kitchens, two laundry rooms, two study rooms, a yoga studio, an ePrint station, and full size beds to help you catch those ZZZs.

There are two large common areas on the ground floor of Wannamaker. One Common Room contains full screen TVs, a communal kitchen, a Nintendo Wii, and a piano. The other Common Room contains full screen TVs, a communal kitchen, a Ping Pong table, and a massage chair. There are also two study rooms with wall to wall white boards for student use and a Yoga Studio for you to practice meditation, dance, or work out in.

The Wellness LLC is open to all rising sophomores, junior, and senior who are looking to live within a community that explores health and wellness for self and community and who are committed to maintaining a safe space for those wishing to have a healthy relationship regarding substances; either living substance-free or practicing moderation and supporting peers who live substance-free.

The Wellness LLC calls Wannamaker Quad home!

Wannamaker Quad is home to approximately 230 residents and offers two common rooms, two kitchens, two laundry rooms, two study rooms, a yoga studio, and an ePrint station. The building was renovated in summer 2016 and is almost 100% wheelchair accessible. Wannamaker Quad shares a Residence Coordinator and Academic Guide with Keohane and has its own Assistant Residence Coordinator as well as 6 Resident Assistants.

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT WANNAMAKER?

Wannamaker is the closest dorm to K-Ville and the athletics facilities. Wannamaker also has a Yoga Studio for residential use to promote fitness and wellbeing.

Yes! You can choose your roommate. Keep in mind that your roommate will also need to be a member of the Wellness LLC. So have them fill out the interest form as well.

You can still be a part of the Wellness LLC! However, there is no guarantee that you will be able to be placed in the LLC when you return to campus the following Spring Semester or if something changes with your Fall semester plans.

You will be able to select from a variety of double and single room options within the LLC allocated area in Wannamaker in proportion to the number of residents in the LLC.

As a Wellness LLC member you'll enroll in the Wellness House Course either in the fall or spring semester of your first year in the LLC. This is one of the few requirements as an LLC member.

If an approved Wellness LLC member has an approved and current SDAO housing accommodation, Housing Assignments will do their best to assign you in a SDAO accommodation space within the LLC. If that assignment cannot be made, Housing Assignments will reach out to you directly to understand your preference.

If a SDAO housing accommodation arises after housing selection has occurred, then you will be placed on the SDAO housing accommodation waitlist and processed accordingly.

Yes! Even if you are not connected to Wannamaker Quad as a part of your QuadEx connection, you are still eligible to join the Wellness LLC.
