Duke offers two distinct summer options for undergraduate students: Duke Summer Session and Duke Summer Experiences. Each program offers unique opportunities for undergraduate students. On-campus housing is available for both options.
PLEASE NOTE: Students are NOT required to live on campus if enrolled in summer courses or summer experiences.
Summer housing is for students who need housing during the summer session (May 13 - August 12). Applications will be approved for the following reasons:
- Enrolled in Summer Session 1 class(es)
- Enrolled in Summer Session 2 class(es)
- Enrolled in Summer Sessions 1 & 2 classes
- International student
- DKU
- +Program (Applied Ethics+, Arts+, Climate+, Code+, CS+, Data+, Doc+, History+, Math+)
The daily rate per person is:

Single: $56.47, approx. $2,541 per term

Double: $42.71, approx. $1,922 per term
Students approved to stay in summer housing will be housed in either Edens or Keohane based upon their program participation.
Housing Dates
Session 1 Move In = Tuesday, May 13
Session 1 Move Out = Friday, June 27
Session 2 Move In = Sunday, June 29
Session 2 Move Out = Tuesday, August 12
Extension housing is available for currently assigned residential students who need to stay on campus beyond the 12:00 PM move-out deadline on Monday, May 5.
Submitting an extension request does not guarantee approval. Requests will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting in mid-April, and students will be notified of their status within three days of submission.
If approved, you may be required to relocate to a different on-campus assignment.

With a relaxed atmosphere, summer is an ideal time to get ahead or catch up, focus on a challenging course, enroll in courses that fill quickly in fall and spring, or take one or more courses that will allow you to study abroad or at the Duke Marine Lab.
Courses are primarily offered in-person with a selection of online courses available.
Registration for Duke students opens in DukeHub on Monday, February 17.
Term 1, 2025: May 14 - June 26
Term 2, 2025: June 30 - August 11
Duke Summer Experiences offers students an easy way to explore more than 50 different summer programs and internships. Students who are involved in a local co-curricular program or working in Durham as a research assistant, intern, etc. can apply to live on campus this summer through Conference and Event Services (CES). The CES housing dates are May 18-July 27, 2025.

All students living on campus are required to purchase a meal plan. More information can be found at the Duke Dining website, including venue locations and hours. Meal plan prices include meal plan, dining fee, and NC taxes.
- Small: $889.30 (1 to 2 meals and/or snacks per day)
- Medium: $1,248.35 (2 meals and snacks per day)
- Large $1649.33 (3 meal and snacks per day)
- Summer Off-Campus Plan $425.98 (1 meal or snack per day)
DKU undergraduates may opt to study at Duke for a semester during their junior year. Enrolling in summer session (typically prior to or after a semester at Duke) is also an option. You will apply and enroll for the program through DKU's Office of Global Education. While at Duke, you will be fully integrated in our campus community, taking courses with Duke students and participating in programs, activities, and organizations relevant to your individual goals.
Duke Kunshan students can apply for summer housing via the Duke housing portal. Duke Kunshan students will be assigned to Edens or Keohane.
