International Spouses and Partners
DISC provides activities, events and information to resources for spouses of graduate & professional students or scholars. It's all free and you can usually bring your children as long as you watch them. If interested, you can get updates on what's happening by joining the International Spouses Email List Serv. You don't need a Duke email to join. Just go to https://lists.duke.edu/sympa/info/intlspouses to sign up.
International Spouses Cooking Club
Spouses have the opportunity to volunteer as session leaders, choosing a menu for the group. DISC will handle the food purchases, and the leading spouse will guide the others through the entire preparation process, ensuring everyone collaborates from start to finish. We meet biweekly on Thursday's in the Smith Warehouse Kitchen.
Global Cafe
Global Café offers a wonderful opportunity to build community and nurture relationships. DISC invites a local Duke or Durham resource to join us for breakfast and informal conversation. Feel free to drop by anytime between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. on the first Friday of each month at the Duke Chapel Basement Lounge. Our first session for Fall 2024 kicks off on Friday, September 12th.
International Spouses Bookclub
Join the International Spouses Book Club on Friday mornings via Zoom, led by long-time volunteers Joanne Napoli and Kitty Sherwin. Participants receive conversation prompts about the novel ahead of each meeting. If you're interested, register through the Facebook group link below. For any questions or concerns, please contact Joanne Napoli at Joanne2950@gmail.com.
